Welcome to M Pilates and Movement.
A Bit About Me…
Hi I’m Maria and I have been teaching Pilates and movement for almost 10 years. I have a Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction, as well as qualifications to teach Pilates for Bone and Joint Health; a specialist certification in Pre-Post Natal Pilates; and certified as a Menopause Pilates Specialist. I offer small group and private Pilates sessions at Pilates Co-Working Studio, Wollongong.
I have worked at other Pilates studio’s, teaching both mat and reformer based classes, and small group and private studio sessions using a variety of Pilates equipment. I have worked alongside physiotherapists, osteopaths, and exercise physiologists helping people rehabilitate after injuries; with movement limitations; and health conditions.
My passion is to provide focussed, personalised instruction to each of my clients. Making each person feel seen and heard in a class is my goal! At M Pilates and Movement you won’t get lost in a crowd of reformers – I see you! And I strive to give you the movement that your body is looking for!
Why Pilates?
After years of working in an office, sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day, plus being a mum of 3 children, I was looking for exercise that helped me gain strength and mobility. I was struggling with muscle imbalances and serious back issues. I was looking for exercise that would challenge my body, but not make it worse. I found Pilates at a time when my body needed focussed, mindful movement.
Doing Pilates gave me a chance to find a mind/body connection, using my breathe to assist my body to achieve more than I could ever imagine. I loved how my body and mind felt after doing Pilates – and how the benefits filtered through into my everyday life, improving my physical strength, flexibility and posture. Pilates has helped improve core strength and stability; alleviate back pain; and improved overall body strength and awareness.
I love that as an exercise, Pilates is non-discriminatory and holistic, it is suitable for any age, body type and most health issues. You can rewire years and years of unhealthy patterns imprinted in the body and turn your life around, decrease pain and improve your quality of life. Chronic pain is something nobody should have to live with. I live my life because of Pilates. I have seen the benefits of practicing it regularly, and its ability to alleviate pain in a way that is sustainable.
I love teaching Pilates and helping people enjoy the benefits from making it part of their everyday life.
Small Group Pilates Reformer Classes

Reformer 101
This class is the perfect entry into reformer classes if you’re new to equipment-based Pilates workouts or if you're looking to perfect the Essential exercises in a safe and structured environment.
The pace of these classes allow participants to learn safe and effective techniques to carry forward into other group classes.
Level: Mild and beginner friendly.

Reformer Flow
This class focuses on precise alignment & fluid transitions through a series of exercises that target different muscle groups. Participants are encouraged to work at their own pace, with modifications & advancements offered to accommodate individual abilities, ensuring a challenging yet accessible experience for all.
Suited for those who have attended Pilates reformer classes consistently for at least 3 months.
Level: Dynamic, progressive

Reformer for Bone Health
Buff Bones® is a medically endorsed system of movement for bone & joint health. Integrating Pilates, strength training, functional movement & rehabilitative exercise to improve the health of your bones & joints. We use the Reformer machine with weighted springs that create resistance as the carriage moves back & forth; the jump board provides mild impact to the bones, & hand weights for strength.
This class is safe for those with osteopenia (low bone mass) or osteoporosis.
Level: Dynamic, beginner.
